A Bit About Me
Regina Reed is a passionate and dedicated library director with over ten years of progressive experience in library management, education, and information literacy. Regina’s passion for libraries began at the age of ten when her dad made her donate all her books to the new town library… and they assured her she could check them back out again! Although she’s still an avid reader, her favorite part of working in a public library is working with the community and providing access to programs and services.

Regina’s first foray into librarianship was as a volunteer. During her husband’s military career, she volunteered in public libraries in North Carolina, Georgia, Alaska, Florida, and Texas and received the opportunity to transcribe historical society columns from microfilm while serving as an intern at the Carnegie History Center in Bryan, TX.
In 2014, Regina moved back to Texas to become the Library Director for the City of Castroville. During her time in Castroville, she worked with the advisory board to develop and streamline library policies & procedures and redesigned the layout of the library to better serve the needs of the community. Regina also served as the Public Information Officer for the city, where she modernized the website and served as content editor of the city newsletters, press releases, and online content.

In 2018, Regina temporarily moved into the academic world and served as the Director of Library Services at a local non-profit university. During this time, Regina served as a member of the Academic Leadership Team, organized and facilitated the bi-annual Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings that connected each school with prominent local field experts, developed a university-wide curriculum mapping plan for the library to better facilitate student learning, and established a learning & writing center to provide students with reference services, writing services, and tutoring. Regina also served as an adjunct instructor for freshman-level English courses.

Regina joined the City of Leon Valley during the summer of 2020. She is a member of the American Library Association (ALA), the ALA Public Library Association, the ALA Intellectual Freedom Round Table, and ALA Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures, and has previously served as a mentor through the Core Leadership & Management mentorship program. As a member of the Texas Library Association (TLA), Regina is currently the webmaster for the Programming for Adults Round Table (PART), and has been appointed to TLA’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (2024-2027). Regina is an active participant in the Texas Municipal Library Director’s Association (TMLDA) and served as the TMLDA Representative at the Texas Municipal League’s 2022 Municipal Policy Summit for the 88th Texas Legislative Session.
