Getting Started with Libby

Libby is a reading app provided by OverDrive to streamline the library's digital ebooks and audiobooks. It makes digital reading easy and fun! Here's some steps to get you started. A printable download is available after the instructions.

1. Install the Libby app from the app store on your Android or iOS (iPhone/iPad, iPod touch) device. Or, visit libbyapp.com in your Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge browser.

2. In Libby, follow the prompts to find your library and sign in with your Leon Valley Public Library card number.

3. Browse the library's collection and borrow a title. The Leon Valley Public Library is part of the Lonestar Digital Library consortium so you have access to lots more books that just what we have.

4. Borrowed titles appear under Shelf>Loans and download to the app automatically when you're on Wi-Fi, so you can read them when you're offline. From your Loans you can: a) Tab Read With...to choose whether you'd like to open a book in Kindle or Libby; b) Tab Open Audiobook or Open Magazine to start reading or listening to that title; c) Tap Manage Loan to see options like Renew and Return.
