  • Are you a San Antonio library?
    No. The Leon Valley Public Library is the library for the City of Leon Valley. We are not part of the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) system.
  • How do I get a library card?
    Library cards are free for residents and business owners in Leon Valley. Non-residents can obtain a card for $20 per family per year or $10 per year for seniors. Visit the library with a photo ID and proof of residency to get your card.
  • What are the library's hours of operation?
    Sunday: Closed Monday: Closed Tuesday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Thursday: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Friday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday: 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • Where is the library located?

  • Is there a fee for overdue items?
    The library is fine free, so we do not have overdue fees. However, if a material is lost, we do charge for the replacement of the material plus a $2.00 processing fee.
  • How can I renew my borrowed items?
    You can renew items online through our catalog, by phone, in person at the library, or by texting (210) 864-4386.
  • Does the library offer digital resources?
    Yes, we offer a variety of digital resources including e-books, audiobooks, and online databases. Access them with your library card. More information can be found in our catalog.
  • How do I search the library catalog?
    Visit our website and use the catalog search feature to find books, e-books, audiobooks, and other materials.
  • Can I suggest a book for the library to purchase?
    Yes, you can suggest a book or other materials for the library to purchase by filling out our suggestion form.
  • What office services are available?
    We offer printing and copying services. Black and white prints are $0.10 per page, and color prints are $0.50 per page. There is a limit of 20 pages, with exceptions for educational needs. We do not currently offer fax services.
  • Is Wi-Fi available at the library?
    Yes, our Wi-Fi (ReadMoreOften) is available within the library, on the porch, and in the parking lot. It’s accessible before and after hours, and on days the library is closed.
  • Do you offer notary services?
    Yes, we offer basic notary services by appointment.
  • How do I request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
    Submit an ILL request through our website or at the library. We’ll notify you when your item arrives.
  • Can I reserve a meeting room at the library?
    Yes, you can reserve a meeting room by contacting the library or using our online reservation system.
  • Does the library offer computer classes?
    The library currently offers one-on-one services for people that need computer assistance. We will be offering computer classes to groups beginning in early 2025.
  • What programs does the library offer?
    We offer programs for all ages, including early childhood activities, school-age programs, teen events, and adult workshops. Check our events calendar for details.
  • Are there any special programs for seniors?
    Keep a close eye on our calendar. New programs specifically designed for seniors including tech help and social events will be offered in early 2025.
  • Do you have summer reading programs?
    Yes, we have summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults. Join us for a summer of fun and reading challenges!
  • How can I find out about upcoming events?
    Check our events calendar on the library's website or visit the library for information on upcoming events. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram for program and event announcements.
  • Can I host an event at the library?
    If you want to partner with the library on an event, please contact our Assistant Library Director Cindy Alvarez at c.alvarez@leonvalleytexas.gov for more information. If you would like to host your own event separate from the library, you can request use of our meeting room. Please review our meeting room policy.
  • How can I volunteer at the library?
    We have volunteer opportunities for teens and adults. Contact us or visit our website for more information on how to get involved.
  • What volunteer opportunities are available?
    Volunteer opportunities include helping with library programs, shelving books, assisting with events, and more. If you love history, we are specifically looking for volunteers to help us digitize our archives collection. Visit our volunteer page for more information.
